Located to the right of the Palace Chamber at the Republic Square and dedicated to Mary’s Assumption into heaven. It was built in 1608 by the contractors of the mines of that period, the family Olgiati, and replaced a small chapel that was in the vicinity of the plant in alum. Initially had only the nave, which is accessed through a number of steps, and was embellished with fine stucco and numerous paintings. At first the church depended directly from the church of Sant’Egidio, in Tolfa, and the priests who came were paid by the contractors themselves; but gradually it became more and more independent, to establish itself as a parish in 1752.
Its simple structure, which recalls the adjacent Palazzo Chamber, is enriched by a grand staircase in local stone that overlooks the square.
